About RecruitingShingle

What is Recruiting Shingle?

My career has been spent recruiting; predominately in a corporate environment for international and Fortune 500 companies. Lately, I’ve had the idea of striking out on my own and hanging out my own shingle. But the first step is my blog…hence, recruitingshingle.com.

My name is Chris Gustafson and I have been a recruiter since 1997 based in the Dallas / Fort Worth area of Texas. The idea behind the blog is to share my thoughts, experience and insights from inside the corporate recruiting world to those looking for their next position (or at the very least, those looking for an answer as to why things happen the way they do when they submit a resume or go on an interview).

As you read through my blog, I want you to keep one thing in mind: I am not an expert and I certainly don’t have all the answers. But I do have some. So that’s why I created recruitingshingle.com. I want to share what I know in an effort to help those that need it. And if I’m lucky, I’ll even be able to make you laugh once in a while.

Feel free to ask me questions regarding any aspect of the job-search process. I’ll do my best to address it. But realize it is only my opinion. It might be a good time to point out a common truth about recruiting. It’s said that if you ask 10 recruiters their opinion on your resume, you’re likely to get 11 different answers. So it goes with this blog. It is merely one man’s opinion after 15+ plus years working in the corporate recruiting environment.

I’m glad you’re here. Take a look around. Let me know what you think and let me know how I can help you in your search.

I enjoyed reading your blog. I’m hoping to continue learning from you. You are an awesome Recruiter and I’m sure you have many experiences to share. I would like to see some resume tips for us non-sales people. Also some tips on job sites you like or you think work the best.

I look forward to your insight and to compare with my corporate experiences in a non-recruiting field.
